Information Page

Welcome to Care Quality Commission’s participation platform! We invite you to connect with us, and others involved in health and social care.

What does CQC do?

We make sure that health and social care services give people safe, effective, compassionate, high-quality care and we encourage care services to improve

  • We register those that provide care
  • We monitor, inspect and rate services
  • We take action to protect people who use services
  • We use our independent voice to share our views on major quality issues in health and social care.

Why do I need to get involved?

Your contributions to our work are really valuable. They support us in our role as regulator to make decisions about the quality of health and social care, encouraging services to improve and helping the public make informed decisions about their care.

What is this platform for?

We want to engage with you and the organisations/people that you represent on a range of topics. You’ll be able to get involved in many different ways; sharing your expertise, experience and thoughts through discussions, reviewing documents, polls, surveys and idea boards.

How do I sign up to the platform?

Signing up is easy! Just give us your first and last name and your e-mail address, and answer a couple of questions. You could also use your Google or Facebook account. Only your first and last name will be visible to others.

When you sign up, you'll be asked what groups you represent and what health and social care sectors you use, work in or are interested in. It's really important that you select all the groups that you fit into so that you can see engagement opportunities that are relevant to your interests.

On the home page, you'll see what activities are currently live and ready for you to take part it.

Can I participate as an individual and/or represent a wider organisation?

Absolutely! When you sign up you can either use your own name or your organisation’s name. We welcome both options. You’ll still be asked to choose what groups you represent and what sectors you work in or use.

When your account is made, you’ll be able to add your position and organisation into your bio (it’s really useful for us to have this information). You’ll also be able to edit your profile after signing up - just click your profile in the top right-hand corner and click 'Edit profile'.

How much time/resource do I have to contribute to be part of the community?

As little or as much as you want to! By getting involved you will be able to shape and influence CQC’s work and we will listen to what you have to say!

We hope that joining in with discussions will provide you with unique insights and opportunities for learning and networking with others interested in health and social care.

Can I use the platform to consult on topics that me and/or my organisation are interested in?

We definitely encourage the community to shape the content of the platform by posting relevant and engaging topics. You can do this by sharing ideas using the ideas tab at the top of the page and others will be able to vote or comment on it. We can then consider making this into a project.

There will also be the chance to coproduce with us, taking the lead on and owning engagement activities. This could be things like devising agendas for face-to-face meetings, working with us to create workshops or simply creating ideas.

What if I want to share report a concern about a health or social care provider?

If you have a concern you want to tell us about regarding a health and social care provider, then please report this via our website.
