Use of Ambient Voice Technology (AVT) in Health and Social Care and CQC Inspections
We are exploring the potential use of Ambient Voice Technology (AVT) to support our inspection and regulatory activity as part of a pilot funded by the Regulators’ Pioneer Fund. AVT involves tools that automatically capture and transcribe spoken conversations, such as those between staff and people using services, or during inspection activity, to support documentation and evidence gathering. These tools are increasingly used across health and social care, and we want to better understand providers’ views and experiences.
Through this survey, we aim to gather insights from health and social care providers about their understanding and experience of AVT, as well as their views on how we might use AVT during inspections. We are particularly interested in how AVT could support our inspection processes, any perceived benefits or concerns, and what would be important for us to consider if we were to use this technology.
All responses are confidential and will be used solely for learning and evaluation purposes. Participation is voluntary and will not influence how we regulate services. The findings will help inform our future approach to the safe, ethical and appropriate use of AVT in our regulatory work.
